The waters surrounding Alor are extremely rich with varied reef profiles: walls, seamounts, rocky outcrops, and pristine coral reefs. This is home to numerous harlequin shrimp, seahorses, ghostpipe fish and a wide variety of nudibranchs. The reefs abound with unusual invertebrates and some of the strangest varieties of fish found on earth.
On the trip there are several opportunities to interact with the locals on the various islands who are a traditional seafaring people. Villagers of all ages paddle out to greet the Cheng Ho.
